Welcome to windtest grevenbroich gmbh
Since 1996 windtest grevenbroich gmbh (wtg) offers a wide range of accredited services for the renewable energy sector like measurements of power performance, loads, electrical characteristics and acoustic noise as well as wind measurements using towers or remote sensing systems like SoDAR / LiDAR.
Furthermore wtg supports wind park developers, banks and insurance agencies with services like site assessment, technical due diligence, noise prognosis, shadow cast prognosis and technical inspections.
New Branding
New Website
Windtest is continuously evolving—not only in technical expertise. As our new website takes shape, we invite you to take a first look at our new logo and the future of our brand.
More Than Wind.
Progress Built on Experience.
For 30 years, we have stood for precision, expertise, and reliable solutions in the wind energy industry. Over the years, that experience has enabled us to grow into an international company whose expertise now extends far beyond wind energy.
Our new brand identity reflects the consistent evolution of our company. It expresses how our perspective and range of services have expanded while staying true to who we are. make it vital to check and test newly designed or modified machines…
Grid Integration + Power Quality
The measurement of the electrical characteristics according to the FGW’s Technical
Directive (Part 3 and 4) or IEC 61400-21 is required by the distribution network and power grid operators…
Test Site Grevenbroich
Since 1998 windtest grevenbroich gmbh has operated a test field for wind energy
systems on the Neurather Höhe hill south of Grevenbroich near Neuss. Prototypes and test systems…
Whether a new wind energy system is „finding its feet“ or whether a wind park can become a profitable investment – often the success depends on intensive research and development work as well as precise planning and reliable monitoring of systems during their operation.
wtg is a sought-after contact for manufacturers, operators, planners, investors, authorities and local authorities, banks and fund management companies – national and international, on-shore and off-shore – for prototype measurements and site evaluations. This is due to wtg’s many years of expertise gained on the worldwide largest test field for inland wind energy systems as well as the company’s involvement with constantly new challenges of this still young technology.
The high investment costs required especially for the mass production of efficient wind energy systems make it vital to check, test and if necessary adjust the characteristics of newly designed or modified machines. Because the identification of faults or anomalies during this development stage helps to avoid significant costs.
The measurement of the electrical characteristics according to the FGW’s Technische Richtlinie (Technical Directive, part 3 and 4) or IEC 61400-21 is required by the distribution network and power grid operators for calculations required for the connection to their networks. Basically, it must be guaranteed that the connection of new WES to the grid and the public supply network does not interfere with other customer systems and equipment. The measurement of the WES‘ electrical characteristics determines whether the WES comply with the limit values.
In order to connect the WES as required, the potential system perturbation is tested before the WES‘ start-up.
Here limit values and compatibility levels apply that can be found in the grid codes and conditions of the various network operators.
Since 1998 windtest grevenbroich gmbh has operated a test field for wind energy systems on the Neurather Höhe hill south of Grevenbroich near Neuss.
Prototypes and test systems with a capacity of 5 kW to 5,500 kW are currently tested there and measured according to international standards. After completion of the work, the systems are dismantled and replaced by new prototypes.
Clients and owners of the wind energy systems are generally the manufacturing companies. windtest grevenbroich gmbh provides the test field with the necessary infrastructure, the measuring technology and the services. The collected data from various measurements, such as stresses, performance curves or electrical characteristics, are used by the system manufacturers to optimise the components as well as the mechanical, dynamic or electrical characteristics of their wind energy systems. windtest grevenbroich gmbh also offers guided tours of the test field.

Prototype Measurement
Again and again the grid compatibility of wind energy is a subject of discussion among energy experts. Frequently they mention the security of supply, which must be guaranteed if wind energy systems (WES) are integrated into the grid.
